After dipping its toes into Hearthstone earlier this year, Starladder is preparing to launch a full-fledged Star Series for the game in just a couple of weeks.
The Ukranian tournament organiser, which has run over a dozen tournaments each in both Dota 2 and CounterStrike, will kick off the Hearthstone StarSeries I on Sep. 3 with $15,000 on the line.
The tournament will feature 12 invited players and four players from open qualifiers—two of which must come from the CIS, or former Soviet Union, region—battling it out over 12 days to claim a share of the $15,000 prize pool. The top six players will be invited to play out the final matches live in Ukraine.
Starladder ran a preliminary tournament in Hearthstone in June, with reigning world champion James “Firebat” Kostesich taking home first prize after defeating Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh in the finals.
The Hearthstone tournament scene has become quieter recently as players gear up for the World Championships in November. And that means players and fans will likely welcome an organizer with a significant track record staking a claim for their attention.
