Forsen wins in yet another controversial Play it Cool marathon finish
A player wins the event by achieving the highest rank at the end of the 24-hour run should be the winner. But admins ruled a tie after Fors and previous winner Janne "Savjz" Mikkonen both appeared to have hit rank No. 115 legend at the end of their final games. Though the game recalculated Fors' rank as No. 116 when both exited the game win screen, it was ruled that both players had finished their final games at the same rank. Fors ultimately won a playoff match against previous winner Janne "Savjz" Mikkonen.
For his victory Fors takes home $5,000, with the other three competitors going home empty handed.
In the previous event Fors was leading towards the end, but confusion over whether or not ranked stars counted led to an eventual playoff loss against Mikkonen.
All four players fared significantly better in the second edition of the event, with Fors, Mikkonen and James "Firebat" Kostesich managing to hit the legend rank. Andrey "Reynad" Yanyuk only managed to hit rank two, but that was still two ranks higher than the winning rank from the previous event.
Mikkonen played with Warlock Zoo for the duration of the marathon, while Fors' played Tempo Mage and Face Hunter.
The event has proved popular with Hearthstone fans. A third edition may well be on the cards, but everyone involved will be hoping for this one to finally without controversy.
