Deep Analysis on Latest Spoiled Cards – 3/25

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

So I just came back from the movies with my girlfriend and noticed 3 new cards added to the spoiler list, woah! Summing up with the other 3 that were added after my latest analysis we have enough to discuss already.

For anyone new here, I am making deep analysis of the spoiled cards every time I think something pops up that deserves a couple extra lines, so here we are: let’s get right to it!

N’Zoth’s First Mate

Well aren’t you a cute little one?

Mini Muster for Battle anyone? A 1/1 that gives you a 1/3 weapon looks quite nice, but then you realize this is a Warrior card and gets utterly disappointed. Warrior isn’t known for its aggro portion, and although it is nice to have Blizzard aim at different strategies, this accomplishes nothing when it comes to the Warrior theme itself. This card would have been amazing as a Neutral, but as a Warrior class card I would expect something completely different.

Faceless Shambler

Talk about low power level, this is just another one of those “I am going to disenchant this” card. This is inferior to his brother, faceless-manipulator in almost all the cases if not all of them, and although it might look promising you shouldn’t let yourself be fooled by these faceless promises, they lie I tell you! THEY LIE! This card is bad:

  • It can not copy your opponent’s minions.
  • You need another minion in play.
  • The abilities of the minion aren’t copied.
  • It is terrible to curve into this.

The main point of this card is to try and make bad cards playable, like give cards with a drawback a chance at working.

I am not saying this can not work, you can (for example) curve ancient-watcher into this and get a good deal with it, but it is just not worth the effort when you could not play bad cards in your deck and instead just run a senjin-shieldmasta.

N’Zoth the Corruptor

Well, this is interesting. This card isn’t a standard playable card alright, but it has almost limitless possibilities in Wild. The creation of this card is yet another proof Blizzard is trying to make Wild format more diverse.

I said a phrase when I saw this card that fits it just fine:

“N’Zoth is a long forgotten God, so it is just fair it becomes a card from a long forgotten format.”

Undercity Huckster

This is an interesting card, when I first saw it the thing that came to my mind was that usually getting random cards from other classes is bad because you might end up facing a rogue and getting useless cards for your class, so this card might see play but in case it does, it is very likely this card will be played by a Rogue. Well, guess what? This is a Rogue Class card!

I like this guy as a Rogue card, I don’t know if it will be playable in let’s say Spell Power Combo style of Rogues, but maybe in the next expansion we might be seeing a good list featuring unearthed-raptor, it will all depend on curves 1-2 good Deathrattle minions.

Renounce Darkness

“I refuse being a Warlock, I am going to be something else, but something else much better!”

That is what Lil Guldan just said! This card has a lot of flavor, but the most interesting thing about this card is that it has very high chances of working! The only pre-requisite to play this card and have it work well is that you should run at least 4/5 of your deck of Class cards, because otherwise it would make no sense to run this I guess.

Becomes anything with your cards costing less seems absurd, especially if you could fill up your hand before by Life Tapping multiple times.

The thing that worries me is that Warlock cards are usually bad, and Warlock decks are filled with Neutral cards because of this and Life Tap is a must since your cards are weaker than your opponents. This creates a vicious Cycle that ends up in you actually getting a disadvantage when using this card because you’d either have a lot of weaker neutral cards in your deck when you cast it, or a lot of weaker Class cards in your deck in order to run this.

It is a paradox, but I very much want to see a deck running this to be playable.

PS: Remember that voidcaller and malganis are both rotating out, so you won’t be able to make a demon themed deck.

Brood of N’Zoth

And this was just spoiled on a German website, and this guy is….. Weak. I disliked it, there isn’t much to say about this card, because it is very simple in nature: The buff is bad, the body is worse and it is not worth the effort to try and make this little guy work.

Closing

And we keep on with the streak of odd and strange cards that we just can not get hyped about continue. Up until this very moment, the only card I liked about the expansion was the Shaman Legendary, but everything else is kind of disappointing if you ask me.

Renounce Darkness looks good on paper, but building a deck around it post-rotation seems like quite the challenge, so I am very interested in seeing how it is going to be played, while Undercity Huckster seems too clunky.

I hope you guys have been enjoying these analysis I have been making of the spoiled cards, see you in the next cards! 😀

Love you all,

Nuba
