There’s only a handful of card reveals left to go for Hearthstone’s Rise of Shadows expansion. The card bonanza looks to be coming to a close, but the excitement isn’t over yet—another new Paladin spell has been uncovered.
Call to Adventure is a rare Paladin spell that costs three mana. The card draws the lowest-cost minion from your deck and gives it +2/ +2 stats.
At first glance, the card looks fairly slow, but it could have key uses. It has the potential for some strong synergies that might fit well in Control Paladin decks. It’s never going to be a staple Paladin card, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good.
Call to Adventure would be a particularly good combination with Immortal Prelate. It would be a sure way to bring the card into play—and buff it, too.
Call to Adventure is similar to Witchwood Piper but lacks the 3/3 body. It could be argued that it’s worse, but its reduced mana is crucial. It’s a spell that can be utilized effectively as a consistent draw mechanic, something that’s well sought-after in a Paladin deck.
The spell needs to be tailored around tutoring another card in your deck. It won’t be nearly as good if you stack your deck with low-cost minions and hope for the best. Its high value only comes into play when combined with another card.
The Paladin class is set to receive a number of interesting new cards—and Call to Adventure is just one of many. Stay tuned for more when Rise of Shadows is released on April 9.
