If you thought something looked funny about the Hex card that was featured in the most recent Hearthstone card reveal video, you’re not alone.
The video featured a Shaman user who had a Hex in their hand that cost three mana instead of four.
After players pointed out the oddity in the video, the Hearthstone team quickly took to Twitter to comment on the matter. According to the official Hearthstone Twitter account, Hex showing a cost of three mana was an error and is in no way a preview of any adjustments being made to the card in-game.
Users on Reddit quickly noticed the mistake as soon as the trailer went live and instantly began debating what the fate of Hex might be. The card was nerfed over a year ago in response to the insane amount of value it was generating for Shaman at the time. Critics of the nerf have often argued that the increased mana cost is unnecessary due to how much value your opponent can potentially get out of the Taunt minion. Blizzard clearly disagrees with this sentiment.
One user on Reddit came up with what many believe to be the most likely explanation for how the mistake made its way into the video. What may have happened is the person who was editing the board for the demo searched for the card Hex in an unabridged Hearthstone card pool. Instead of adding the current iteration of the card, they may have accidentally added the pre-nerf version.
Shaman players will unfortunately have to quell their excitement for now, because it doesn’t look like Hex will be returning to its former glory anytime soon. The Shaman class might have some exciting things in store come April 9 when Rise of Shadows drops, however—so don’t lose faith just yet.
