Aggro Murloc Paladin Guide: Murlocs vs Warlocks
With the recent nerfs going live, the meta is looking to shift in favor of decks like Jade Druid, Secret Mage and most importantly, Cubelock. Warlock as a class has become a lot stronger than before and both Control Warlock (Giant version) and Cubelock are in a solid state right now. However, if you want to sneak in wins against the class the recipe is still the same: overwhelm the board and kill them before they can go ahead with their Cube plays. Murloc Paladin is great at shutting down greedy decks and you can use the deck to breeze to high ranks quite comfortably once you get the hang of the deck.
Card Choices
Grimscale Chum: An aggressive early game Murloc that allows you to buff up a Murloc in hand. You should aggresively mulligan for this card and other 1 drop Murlocs to apply pressure on board as early as possible.
Righteous Defender: A good minion to protect your Murlocs from being traded too easily and also happens to be a great target for buffs. It also has synergy with Rallying Blade and can be used to get high value trades off in the early game.
Vilefin Inquisitor: Being able to change your hero power to summon 1/1 Murlocs is a big deal in the deck since you have cards like Murloc Warleader and Gentle Megasaur that encourage having as many murlocs as possible in the board.
Hydrologist: Hydrologist allows you to draw 1 mana spells outside your deck and while Paladin Secrets might be the weakest compared to Hunter or Mage, since you do not need to run them in your deck and even weak secrets are valuable depending on the situation as you get to pick from 3 options based on what you need.
Divine Favor: Divine Favor goes in and out of the meta quite frequently and it is quite strong right now thanks to decks like Cubelock hoarding cards in their hands and greedy decks becoming more popular, Divine Favor can get serious value in the current meta.
Unidentified Maul: One of the strongest weapons for any deck that likes to spam the board. You can get great value out of the card to get better trades off through attack buffs or divine shield for maximum value.
Rallying Blade: An aggressive weapon that can be used for both face damage or board control and also has synergy with your Divine Shield minions. It is a very aggressive weapon and can allow you to push for 6 damage or control the board.
Call to Arms: Call to Arms is one of the best cards of the expansion and it allows players to draw and summon minions very mana-efficiently. You can thin your deck to get to your Megasaurs more consistently.
sunkeeper-tarim: One of the strongest legendaries in the game right now, it can turn around board states by allowing you to trade evenly against enemy minions or simply buff up your small minions to push for damage. It is a very flexible and powerful legendary that definitely needs to be in your deck.
Murloc Tidecaller: Ideally you want to buff this minion early on or hide it behind a taunt to get the most out of it. It is a threat that can snowball and its 1 mana cost allows you to apply pressure very early in the game.
Knife Juggler: Knife Juggler did not see any play in older Murloc Paladin decks but now it makes the cut because of Call to Arms allowing you to flood the board and get extra damage off. It also triggers its effect if you pull it in the first two slots of Call to Arms and can get one or two juggles off.
Rockpool Hunter: Â A great tool to buff your cheap murlocs and solidify the board presence they offer. It is essentially a 2 mana 3/4 if you have a Murloc ready to be buffed on board.
Murloc Warleader: One of the strongest tools Murloc decks have access to, depending on how big and full of Murlocs your board is the more value you get out of your Warleader. You ideally want to develop a big board before playing your Warleader to get good value out of the card.
Gentle Megasaur: A card that can outright win you the game if you have a decent board of Murlocs up. While the card is situational it is still very powerful and deserves a slot in any Murloc deck. It can allow you to setup big trades or even push for lethal through the various Adapt options that are available in the game.
[card]Spellbreaker: Spellbreaker is extremely important in the current meta because of the popularity of Cubelock. It also helps you bypass taunts in other decks and push for lethal. Do note that silencing a Voidlord in Cubelock matchups only makes the Warlock Death Knight better. You should use the card to your advantage only when you know you can close out the game instead of turning it into a disadvantage.
