Limited-edition Astro Bot PS5 controller is almost as cute as the game itself

This one looks like a must-have for PlayStation fans.

There’s not a better fit for a special DualSense controller than Astro, and Sony has realized it. A special limited-edition PlayStation 5 controller themed around the console’s mascot is coming.

When Astro Bot launches later this year, complete with his own controller ship in the game, you can have your own little Astro Bot in your hands. The gloriously-designed limited edition DualSense can be seen below in all of its glory, and it may be one of the best-designed PS5 controllers to date.

The controller has a beautiful blue and white aesthetic just like the lovable little robot, including white buttons, analog sticks, and triggers, and the touchpad is adorned with his cute little eyes to complete the look. It basically looks like Astro Bot morphed into a DualSense.

Astro’s Playroom, which launched included with every PS5 console, was a perfect exhibition of the DualSense’s capabilities. Astro Bot looks to continue the trend, featuring specific rumble patterns for traversing different types of landscape textures, flying, and more.

Astro Bot developer Team Asobi said it has “increased the number of textures you can feel through the controller” and also “doubled down on the adaptive triggers combined with haptic feedback by tying them tightly to Astro’s new powers.”

“For example, when using Barkster, the bulldog Jetpack, you can feel the thruster ratting against your finger in synch with the animation, giving a very dynamic and immersive feeling,” the dev said on the PS Blog. “Every new power up has been given that same special treatment so you will be able to experience various expressions through your fingers.”

Pre-orders for the beautiful controller will go live on Aug. 9 at 9am CT, and it will launch on the same day as the game. As has been the case with other limited edition controllers, it’s priced up a bit and will cost $79.99.

Astro Bot and the special controller both will launch exclusively for the PS5 on Sept. 6.
