Luminosity has become the latest name in esports to jump on the Heroes of the Storm hype train, picking up the Canadian team Goon Squad.

Goon Squad’s best performance to date came at the Heroes World Championship NA Open early in July. They finished in the top six, taking down Cloud9 Vortex in the process. The team also has a number of weekly online cups to their name.

Nelson “Goat” Le and Raphael “Hosty” Tsantili founded the team in March, shuffling teammates every month before finally landing on the current lineup early in June. Le and Tsantili both play the flex position, with Francis “MATRE” Gilbert-Brodeur at support, Reece “BOSSFLOSS” Kelly at warrior, and Francisco “Goku” Avalos manning the carry spot.

Tsantili was previously part of the Hearthstone division of Jason “Amaz” Chan’s Archon team, but left the organisation amid allegations of cheating in an online tournament.

Luminosity’s expansion into esports has been rapid, first entering the scene in February of this year picking up the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team formerly known as Mythic. Since then they have added Hearthstone and World of Warcraft rosters to the organization.
