That’s right: Heroes of the Storm is finally going public June 2. The game transitioned from alpha to closed beta in January, and will officially ramp up to release with an open beta starting May 20.

There had been little indication that this announcement was coming until yesterday, when the official Blizzard Twitter account posted a cryptic message about an announcement.

The Heroes of the Storm esports scene has developed at pace in 2015 so far, with Blizzard’s own Heroes of the Dorm collegiate competition currently taking place and major esports organisations like Na’Vi, CompLexity Gaming and LDLC signing rosters.

There’s no sign that anyone currently in the beta should expect change when the full release hits, with competitive features like Hero League and Team League only added to the game in the past few months.
