Fortnite: Battle Royale players can now fill their parties with up to 16 players before joining a match. Epic Games released large party support today through the Squad Formation feature, which increases the maximum number of players per party and lets them split into four teams of four players each for big team modes.
This feature also allows all players to join Creative and Playground matches, but it disables matchmaking for default game modes like solo, duos, and squads. Players still need a custom matchmaking key to create a personalized match for these modes. For modes like Team Rumble, Food Fight, the Endgame LTM, and 50v50, the Squad Formation feature will ensure that all players join the same match on the same team.
And forming a 16-player squad is as easy as forming a standard four-player squad.
How to make a large party with Squad Formation
Everyone who wants a 16-player party can do so by choosing their game mode in Battle Royale and inviting friends to their party. After you’ve surpassed the four-player limit, you’ll automatically enter Squad Formation mode, and you’ll be able to manage which players belong to each team with the Squad Formation button at the bottom right of the lobby.
On that window, you’ll be able to move your friends around and choose their squad: Llama, Crab, Bear, or Dragon. Five players will unlock Crab squad, nine will unlock Bear, and 13 will unlock Dragon. The Llama squad is the default four-player team.
Then all you have to do is select the game mode you want to play with your team and queue up. All players will automatically be placed on the same team.
The large party feature is already available to all players in all platforms. It includes cross-platform play and parties if you have that setting enabled.
