Fortnite: Battle Royale players who were unable to play the game over Christmas will have to wait another year to see the island taken over by snow.
Players woke up today to a Fortnite island back to its normal state, with ice and snow only found in the southwestern region. The snow that fully covered the map on Dec. 24 and 25 has now melted in all games modes, leaving players who witnessed the event with a feeling that they witnessed something unique while players who missed it feel that developer Epic Games got rid of it too quickly.

Some complained that many people were unable to play on Christmas because they were with family and friends on both days. Coming back to the game the day after Christmas without snow felt disappointing to them. “I know Epic has given us a lot this holiday season, but this was by far my favorite thing. They could’ve at least allowed it to stay until New Years, or maybe a week or two,” a player said on Reddit.
Other players also suggested that Epic could’ve left the map covered in snow during the holiday event 14 Days of Fortnite, which is approaching its eighth day. But now that the event has already started without the snow map, and now that both Christmas and the snow are gone, it’s unlikely that Epic will bring this special feature back anytime soon. We could see a Limited Time Mode with it in the future, but Epic has yet to reveal its plans for it, or for any other temporary map changes.
Every area remains the same. At the time of writing, players are yet to find major map changes after the snow melted.
