Both Epic Games and the Fortnite: Battle Royale community are always thinking of new ideas for additions to the popular title, and sometimes, the two entities end up exactly on the same page.
That’s what has happened in a recent Reddit thread where a user named Vapegodmasterman suggested that a new limited time mode for Fortnite be Gun Game.
In the Gun Game mode, players start off with the same weapon and get new ones with each successive kill, whereas dying will set you back one weapon. The player to get the final kill with the final weapon wins the game.
In the Reddit thread, someone from Epic Games named EpicDustyDevo confirmed that the developer has been toying with the idea of adding a mode like Gun Game as a limited time event.
“It’s totally on the list to try a progressive weapon load out LTM at some point,” EpicDustyDevo said. “Would probably bring in the storm early to keep everyone together, flip on respawns so the game reliably ends when someone makes it through the weapon ladder. What do you guys think, gold scar down to pistols, or weaker weapons up to strong? I think an argument could be made for either way being interesting…”
Adding in respawns would obviously be a huge change for Fortnite, which famously allows just one life per game. Also, the prospect of deciding between having the Gun Game weapon progression go in ascending or descending order in terms of gun quality makes for a good argument, too.
Either way, there are definitely some new limited time modes in the works at Epic Games, and some variation of the classic Gun Game could be one of them.
