Dota 2 veteran and The International 6 grand finalist Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen has signed with Brazilian squad paiN Gaming as the team’s official coach for TI8.

PaiN Gaming announced the signing in a post on its official Facebook page last night. The post also contains a short video montage of MiSeRy’s accomplishments over the years, including his miracle run with Digital Chaos at TI6 two years ago.

MiSeRy was last seen playing official games for BlinkPool, a team that he formed with former Digital Chaos squadmate Martin “Saksa” Sazdov. First known as “Five Dogs,” the roster was subsequently picked up and sponsored by BlinkPool, a UK-based esports betting site. Most notably, however, MiSeRy played the hard support role for Evil Geniuses earlier this year—before being released by the organization after a failed campaign at ESL One Birmingham.

Unfortunately, BlinkPool was unable to make it through the TI8 European regional qualifiers, having lost to Wind and Rain two games to one in the losers bracket finals. A few weeks later, MiSeRy left BlinkPool in order to coach paiN Gaming, thus reuniting him with another former Digital Chaos teammate: Aliwi “w33” Omar.

Considering paiN Gaming’s position as one of the less favored teams at TI8, having MiSeRy in the booth for drafting and strategizing will definitely be a significant boon for them in the tactics department. The wealth of experience and fine game sense he possesses will certainly bolster the Brazilian roster, and could lead to a few more upset wins than initially expected.

With four weeks remaining before the TI8 group stage kicks off, there is still plenty of time for MiSeRy to work his magic and gel with the team.
