Destiny 2 awards Shayura’s Wrath SMG as reward for Trials seasonal challenge

And you only need to win seven rounds.

Bungie introduced Shayura’s Wrath, an SMG exclusive to Trials of Osiris, in Season of the Splicer. Now, there’s another way to get it—with little time in Trials required.

Shayura’s Wrath is the reward for the week eight seasonal challenge, “Trial by Firing Squad.” Any player looking to snag a roll of the SMG can grab it regardless of that week’s rewards, as long as they win seven rounds in the game mode.

Trials of Osiris weapons come with a certain degree of exclusivity. They only drop in the hard-fought PvP game mode, which already creates a barrier for obtaining these guns. And the reward structure for Trials is another obstacle.

Each week brings a new set of rewards based on the number of wins you accrue. Between July 2 to 6, for instance, players who achieve three wins will receive a Messenger. The week before that, getting the same number of wins awarded players with the Sola’s Scar sword. (Like Xûr, Trials is only available between Friday and Tuesday.)

That structure can make certain weapons unavailable for weeks. The seasonal challenge, on the other hand, will yield the same prize for the duration of Season of the Splicer. Any player who turns in the objective will get a free roll of Shayura’s Wrath, regardless of the Trials rewards at the time.

This is the second time Bungie has offered a Trials weapon as a prize for a challenge. In Season of the Chosen, players who won seven rounds of Trials got a copy of Igneous Hammer, a weapon that still dominates PvP modes.

Shayura’s Wrath is one of the few non-sunset submachine guns that deal Void damage in the game (that list was even smaller before Bungie announced it would reissue Moon guns). In addition, it comes with a narrow perk pool that can make for deadly combinations—such as Heating Up or Tunnel Vision alongside Kill Clip.
