What your Deadlock main says about you

Lash mains, listen up.

Deadlock is a third-person hero-shooter that combines aspects and gameplay mechanics from MOBAs. With every hero-shooter comes a fanbase fiercely dedicated to the characters in the game, generating ‘mains’ who dedicate their time to playing a single hero.

While there are 21 heroes available in Valve’s Deadlock, you’ll likely gravitate to certain favorites. If you aren’t afraid of facing the heat, then here’s what your Deadlock main says about you.

Abrams

If you’re an Abrams main, chances are you have an unreasonable amount of anger directed at the F key on your keyboard. By default, pressing F makes characters parry Abrams’ melee attacks, rendering him pretty useless and making mains melee attack their keyboards.

Bebop

At their very core, a Bebop main loves to get involved in drama. You thrive at inserting yourself in situations that have nothing to do with you, completely ruining the vibe because you had to drop an unnecessary bombshell. There’s also a strange phenomenon shrouding Bebop mains: Your lack of reliable connection. Worse, you lean into this fault instead of rectifying the problem. Why play when you can lag out and hook someone through a wall?

Dynamo

If you’re a Dynamo main, you have a pure soul and want to help your teammates by providing heals and CC. Most likely, you found Deadlock through other hero shooters and still believe in the sanctity of working together with friends to achieve victory. Eventually, you won’t view your teammates through the sweet lens of innocence.

Grey Talon

A Grey Talon main loves to choose the hardest option available, to take on a challenge, and always dies trying. Whether you want to deal negative amounts of damage from the sky or explode in less than a second, you’ll try, try, and try again. If you keep up the good fight, Grey Talon’s win rate will eventually increase by a single decimal point, right?

Haze

Remember in middle school gym class when certain kids would treat basketball games like the NBA finals? These kids have grown up into Haze mains and fully believe they are the newest members of FaZe. Newsflash to Haze mains: Everyone wants to win, but not everyone wants to sweat through their T-shirt to see the victory screen.

Infernus

Some people want to watch the world burn, including Infernus mains. If you play this firestarter, you probably have a special place in your heart for DoT effects and love to watch a health bar slowly tick down. Don’t worry, I won’t piss you off too much by purchasing a Debuff Reducer—or you may just explode.

Ivy

Ivy mains remind me of the Michelle Obama quote: “Girl you have done it again. Constantly raising the bar for us all, and doing it flawlessly.” You put your team first by healing low-health friends, tanking damage, and stunning enemies with your gargoyle. Thank you for your service.

Kelvin

If you main Kelvin, you fall into two categories. You either invest all your Souls and points into upgrading Artic Beam so you can dish out unreasonably high damage and CC without aiming. On the other hand you may just want to frolic through the air with Ice Path, and you always have a jolly time.

Lady Geist

Yes, I have eyes, and yes, I can check the damage charts. Just because Geist has an explosion that deals massive damage, burns the ground, and is the size of an entire lane doesn’t mean you’re a pro player. Maybe you have such high damage because you lob tactical nukes in the general vicinity of the enemy and get rewarded for it every time.

With all that said, you do have impeccable taste.

You’re an asshole.

McGinnis

As a McGinnis main you don’t like when people get too close, so you build up walls and defense mechanisms to protect yourself from getting hurt. These never really work, so you may lash out with a well-timed airstrike. It’s okay, McGinnis, you can let them in (unless it’s a Seven ult).

Mo & Krill

You’re weird for maining Mo & Krill, because you don’t want to deal massive damage or carry teamfights. Instead, you’re interested in hyperfocusing one poor soul, using everything in your repertoire to stop them from having fun. Whether it’s disarming an enemy for what feels like an entire month or holding down an opponent for no reason, a Mo & Krill main specializes in getting under your skin.

Paradox

Paradox players are probably longtime MOBA fans familiar with the concepts of laning and ganking. These mains aren’t afraid to get sweaty by running around the entire map and interrupting your fights with sniper shots. Most likely, a Paradox main assists the entire team by securing kills and helping every lane get ahead.

Pocket

An image of Pocket from Deadlock, who wields a shotgun and a magic bag full of tricks. The character is wearing a dark jacket with a red scarf, and has black hair.

Pockets invite themselves to the function. These players teleport right up to you unannounced and unleash explosions you didn’t even ask for. If you try to get away from their advances, they warp right back in your face. Can’t they take a hint?

Seven

If you main Seven, you love to gamble your success on a single ultimate ability because it makes you the center of attention. You’re also delusional, because you completely ignore his win rates and complain about nerfs. A Seven main will tell you his ultimate’s weak because you can hide behind a wall to avoid damage. These players forget their teammates typically stop you from escaping—because everything needs to be about their shining moment.

Shiv

You’re the human embodiment of a mosquito, making enemies bleed with knives and your teammates’ ears bleed with horrible comms. You always complain when your teammates die, oblivious to Shiv’s built-in damage reduction. As a Shiv main, you love to run away from difficult situations and leave your team to pick up the pieces. After all, leaving doesn’t give you too bad of a penalty right now.

Vindicta

One shot, no kills. Screenshot by Dot Esports.

Vindicta mains have nerves and minds of steel because you aren’t afraid to turn into the enemy team’s punching bag. In every match, I see a Vindicta getting thrown around, beaten, and pulverized, but she never complains. All a Vindicta main wants is one good snipe, a single burst of adrenaline and endorphins that lasts for a solid second. Once the rush is over, you’ll find yourself and your joy snatched away by a Bebop hook and destroyed with a bomb. It was worth it. It’s always worth it.

Viscous

We get it: You bought slime one time on TikTok and can’t seem to shake your hyperfixation. While I respect you don’t care about winning and just want to annoy the enemy team by throwing them around the map, that doesn’t mean Viscous needs to be your entire personality. Please put the slime down. It’s time to try new things.

Warden

It’s almost like Warden mains are trying to fulfill some strange power complex. Nine times out of 10, you were a hall monitor in school, and you still can’t shake the high this small amount of power generated. Now, you patrol the halls of your games and arrest anyone attempting to have too much fun.

Wraith

Wraith mains typically go for the easiest approach to any situation, but that doesn’t make you bad. Instead of sweating to secure a kill, you use your ult to lift enemies in the air and unleash a torrent of bullets. This may seem unfair, and it kinda is.

Yamato

A Yamato main spends too much time in the mirror staring at their forehead. I want you to know I’m writing this section as your friend. It’s time to take out the scissors from your junk drawer and give yourself the bangs you always wanted.
