Globally-renowned esports juggernauts Team Liquid have been revealed as the next team invited to compete at IEM Sydney. From May 3 to 5, Team Liquid will join NiP, MIBR, FaZe, and Renegades for the third installment of Australia’s biggest CS:GO event at Qudos Bank Arena.

All five of these invited teams recently attained Legends status at IEM Katowice and, with four more international teams to be invited, this year’s event is already shaping up to be the biggest IEM Sydney yet.

Nick Vanzetti, senior vice president of ESL Asia-Pacific Japan, can’t wait to play host to IEM Sydney once more. “Aussie fans will welcome Team Liquid and NiP when they take the stage, and local teams will relish the opportunity to take on the biggest names in CS:GO,” Vanzetti said. “IEM Sydney has become a destination for the biggest teams and match-ups, and we’re excited to host household names, as they go up against crowd favorites, the Renegades.”

Like last year’s IEM Sydney event, teams will compete for a $250,000 prize pool. Team Liquid and NiP will be looking to add to their combined earnings of over $4 million. If the recent CS:GO action at IEM Katowice is any indication, taking the top prize will be no easy feat. A total of 16 teams will be vying for that Legends stage.

Home-grown favorites Detroit Renegades are also returning for this event. “The boys” will be hoping to build on their impressive IEM Katowice performance and erase the memory of their quarterfinal loss to Mousesports in 2018. Will they be able to stop FaZe Clan, last year’s champions, from winning back-to-back titles?

Tickets for IEM Sydney 2019 are on sale via Ticketek. Single day and three-day passes are still available. All tickets can also be upgraded to ensure early entrance into the event. You can see the rest of the competing teams and find out more via the official IEM Sydney website.
