Norwegian CS:GO team led by RUBINO is reportedly in the making

The Scandinavian region has long reigned as the king of competitive Counter-Strike. There was the Swedish era, where Ninjas and Pyjamas and Fnatic won multiple Majors, and now there’s the Danish era, with Astralis looking to secure their third Major title today at IEM Katowice.

The only Scandinavian country that hasn’t been considered in the upper echelon of CS:GO is Norway. There’s been a few Norwegian players who have made a name for themselves on the big stage, like FaZe Clan’s Håvard “rain” Nygaard, but other than him, the country has mostly been quiet on lan.

According to multiple sources reported by Dextero, however, a new Norwegian team is in the making. The team reportedly being put together by Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel could feature Norwegian players Jørgen “cromen” Robertsen, Håkon “hallzerk” Fjærli, and Haakon “Radifaction” Tholo, as well Danish player Jesper “tenzki” Plougmann. The team is looking to represent an organization, but they haven’t been picked up yet.

The team consists of players who have had fleeting success in competitive CS:GO, with Norwegian players RUBINO and cromen holding much of the roster’s accolades.

RUBINO won multiple minor tournaments with majority Danish roster Dignitas in 2016, while cromen acted as a stand-in for Heroic and FaZe Clan in 2018. He showed promise and won ESL One: Belo Horizonte 2018, but was replaced shortly after when Olof “olofmeister” Kajbje returned from his break.

Hallzerk previously played for Norwegian team Nordavind. The player has little international experience and is considered much of an unknown entity in the CS:GO scene. Although he’s still under contract with his organization, it looks like that could be subject to change.

Radifaction played on Nordavind with hallzerk, but left the organization in September 2018. He went on to play with Swedish player Mikail “Maikelele” Bill for team NoChance, but left yesterday.

Tenzki has represented multiple teams and organizations during his seven-year career. He achieved a first-place finish at DreamHack Tours playing for Danish lineup Dignitas in 2016, but saw much of his success playing for European team The Imperial. He most recently placed first at DreamHack Open Summer 2018.
