Heroic signs friberg to long-term contract

The legendary Swedish player is back on another team.

One of Sweden’s most successful Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players will be heading to Denmark for his new team.

Adam “friberg” Friberg, who competed on OpTic Gaming for the majority of 2017, has signed a long-term contract with Heroic. While he’s competed with the roster in online leagues since April 5, friberg will be making his LAN debut with the roster at the ESL Pro League Season 7 finals on May 14.

“I will work extremely hard and do everything I can to lift another trophy,” the entry-fragger wrote in a statement. “I feel like we have a good mix of young and experienced players on Heroic, and even more importantly, there is a willingness to work hard and to constantly improve on the team.”

Friberg was removed from Ninjas in Pyjamas after five years with the roster. He then joined up with several other star European players in OpTic on Aug. 21. Although the roster got off to a rather successful start, the team was never able to build upon its success and eventually crumbled. On Feb. 11, friberg and the rest of the line-up left the Green Wall.

Heroic has experienced its own struggles in 2018. Star player Jakob “JUGi” Hansen left the roster on April 28, and the team’s Norwegian lurker Ruben “RUBINO” Villaroel is sidelined due to illness. Even so, the team still achieved a strong enough record in the ESL Pro League to earn themselves a spot at the tournament’s offline finals.

The seventh ESL Pro League finals will also see a large-scale NiP reunion, as the team’s current roster, friberg, and will all be in attendance.

Friberg will have a chance to get one over on his former teammates at the ESL Pro League finals. NiP’s current roster will be participating, as will fellow alumni Rikard “Xizt” Landström. Xizt is currently playing for FaZe Clan in place of Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer.
