Fnatic CS:GO makes room for disco doplan

The legendary organization’s roster woes appear to be over.

After cementing themselves as the most dominant team in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive history with six straight LAN victories, a dramatic roster swap in August saw the majority of the legendary Fnatic line-up go its separate ways.

Now, after two roster changes, Fnatic looks to regain the top spot as Joakim “disco doplan” Gidetun has been brought in to replace John “wenton” Eriksson. Having previously played for Epsilon Esports, doplan’s rise through the Swedish amateur scene has been meteoric, with the 21-year-old delivering consistently exquisite performances and an average HLTV rating of 1.11, the second best of the entire current Fnatic squad.

The addition of disco doplan comes roughly two weeks after the re-addition of Freddy “KRiMZ” Johansson, who left the team along with Jesper “JW” Wecksell and Robin “flusha” Rönnquist to join Swedish rivals GODSENT in August. Fnatic, as a result, added former GODSENT members Simon “twist” Eliasson and Jonas “lekr0” Olofsson, as well as former stand-in wenton to its own line-up. The move itself was considered so massive in scope that it was dubbed “the Swedish shuffle.”

While this is the first premier team disco doplan has ever signed with, the AWPer has previously spent time on Ninjas in Pyjamas as a stand-in for Jacob “pyth” Mourujärvi. His first performance with Fnatic will be the upcoming ELEAGUE group stage from Nov. 18–19.

“I really appreciate this opportunity from Fnatic and I hope we will achieve great things together,” disco doplan said in the announcement.

Disco doplan’s move will more than likely prove detrimental to the Epsilon line-up, with the European Minor qualifiers set to begin on Nov. 4 the roster has little time to adapt to the loss of one of its star players.
