World War II games are blessed with some of the more unique-looking weapons in history. Call of Duty: Vanguard has just about all of them.
One of them is the Owen Gun, a submachine gun that’s unlocked at level 29. The “high-caliber full-auto SMG with accuracy for medium ranges” features a blowback design with an open bolt and it was designed to be fired from either the shoulder or the hip.
The Owen Gun was known as the Owen machine carbine during World War II. It was invented in 1939 by Evelyn Owen, hence its name, and it was the only Australian-designed service SMG in WWII. It was used by Australia’s army from 1943 up until the mid-1960s.
Here’s how to equip one of the more fun and unique weapons in Vanguard.
Best Owen Gun loadout in Vanguard
- Muzzle: Strife Compensator
- Optic: Slate Reflector
- Stock: Gawain H4 Folding
- Underbarrel: M1930 Strife Angled
- Ammo Type: FMJ Rounds
- Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
- Proficiency: Sleight of Hand
- Kit: Quick
Sporting one of the slower fire rates for SMGs in Vanguard, the Owen Gun is best suited for medium-range engagements. It will be outgunned up close by some of the higher fire rate guns, like the MP40 or Automaton, but it excels elsewhere.
These attachments will accentuate the Owen’s best features and help you take down enemies at range, while also keeping your movement speed up so you can play it like any other SMG caliber weapon in the game.
