eSportsNation’s MLG Columbus Predictions

Recommended Videos

The following predictions are based off of recent Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – MLG Pro Point tournament results. Other factors play in as well, such as experience from the most recent events that took place in the past Call of Duty title.

*Please note that these are personal ESN predictions and are simply opinions from our staff. With Advanced Warfare only being out for a short period of time, and this being the first event, we have been limited to making predictions based off of online play and past events that these players have competed in.

Pool Play Group Predictions

The top two teams from each of the four pools will have a guaranteed spot in the Championship Winner’s Bracket. The other remaining teams will be dropped down into the Championship Loser’s Bracket, to fight for a chance into the Grand Finals.

Pool A

  • 1st – OpTic Gaming
  • 2nd/3rd – Team Kaliber
  • 2nd/3rd – Prophecy
  • 4th – StDx ESPORT
  • 5th – Open Bracket team

OpTic Gaming will look to sweep this Pool as they are predicted to win all of their matchups. The biggest game to watch for will be between Team Kaliber and Prophecy to determine who will be the second team that makes it into the Winner’s Championship Bracket.

Pool B

  • 1st – JusTus Pro
  • 2nd/3rd – OpTic Nation
  • 2nd/3rd – Rise Nation
  • 4th – Automatic Reload
  • 5th – Open Bracket team

With JusTus Pro proving to be a dominant force, online at least, they’ll be expected to take this Pool. The second team to make it out of Pool Play will be determined from a very experienced OpTic Nation team matched up against Rise Nation in what we expect to be the matchup of this pool.

Pool C

  • 1st – Denial eSports
  • 2nd/3rd – FaZe Pro
  • 2nd/3rd – Stunner Gaming
  • 4th – Clan Lucky Strike
  • 5th – Open Bracket team

Denial are arguably one of the best teams in the game right now, especially coming from their recent Pro Point tournament wins and Call of Duty: Ghosts’ events. Assuming that they’ll be able to carry over that momentum, Denial should take this pool. It seems safe to say that possibly FaZe Pro will secure the second spot, but the most important matchup for second place will be between FaZe and Stunner Gaming. Stunner Gaming are a force to reckoned with, being the young and talented squad that they are, they’ll be the underdogs in this pool.

Pool D

  • 1st – Team EnVyUs
  • 2nd/3rd – Aware Gaming
  • 2nd/3rd – Carnage
  • 4th – Strictly Business
  • 5th – Open Bracket team

Team EnVyUs will be looking to come in hot this event with their recent pickup of James “Clayster” Eubanks. They should be able to take first place in this pool. The important matchup to determine second place will be between an experienced Aware Gaming and Carnage. Carnage cannot be underestimated as they seem to be one of the best upcoming teams out there.

Overall Top 8 Predictions

  •  1st Place: OpTic Gaming – $10,000
  • 2nd Place: Denial eSports – $6,000
  • 3rd Place: Team EnVyUs – $4,000
  • 4th Place: JusTus Pro – $2,000
  • 5th Place: FaZe Pro – $1,000
  • 6th Place: OpTic Nation – $1,000
  • 7th Place: Team Kaliber – $500
  • 8th Place: Prophecy – $500

We have made these predictions based solely off of the recent online Pro Point tournaments and most recent LAN event experience. With OpTic Gaming winning both the 5K and 10K tournaments, along with the newest additions of Matthew “FormaL” Piper and World Champion Ian “Crimsix” Porter, we can only assume that they’ll be looking to be the most dominant team out there.

All the teams in the Pool Play Groups including the Open Bracket Top 4, all have chances to make plays and finish in the Top 8. However, they need to step it up and prove to everyone that they can perform at that level.

Open Bracket – Noteworthy Teams

These are notable teams who we believe could break out of Open Bracket, place Top 4, and go on to play in the Loser’s Championship Bracket for a chance to play against top teams and even possibly go on to the Grand Finals.

  • iLLmatic Gaming
  • Team FeaR
  • Noble.Impact
  • Orbit
  • DarePro
  • SoaR Gaming
