The first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies gameplay is here, and the legends at Treyarch may have really and truly cooked with this game.
Activision has released a short trailer alongside full-length gameplay videos of the new map, Terminus, featuring a cast of new and returning characters fighting their way off of a prison island that they’ve been on for five years since the events of CoD: Black Ops Cold War.
Among the barrage of Zombies announcements today, Treyarch confirmed a new Save and Quit feature will be enabled for solo play, allowing players to save their progress, quit, and return right where they left off.
Treyarch also revealed a totally new Wonder Weapon called the Beamsmasher, described as “an experimental powerhouse with three unique damage types to help you mow down the horde as you fight for survival on Terminus Island.”
Additionally, there’s a new Mutant Injection killstreak that players can use, which is an injectable needle that transforms you into a hulking Mangler to help even the odds against the waves of undead.
BO6 Zombies features a new system called Augments, which is a “risk vs. reward” upgrade system for Perks, Ammo Mods, and Field Upgrades, “with over 100 Augments to unlock at launch.” With Augments, you can choose a Major and Minor upgrade per item to “match the role you want to play.”
Not to be outdone by multiplayer, Zombies in BO6 has classic Prestige progression, including four Mastery camos, reticle challenges, daily challenges, and unique main quest rewards to unlock from the get-go.
Similarly to multiplayer, though, Zombies features a customizable HUD, including the classic Black Ops 3-like Legacy preset. But players will also be able to toggle things like enemy health bars and damage numbers.
Treyarch says other quality-of-life updates coming to Zombies include the ability to join a friend’s match in progress, change your Field Upgrade mid-match, and more.
The wait for BO6’s full release on Oct. 25 just got a lot more difficult.
