CoD players are pleading for one huge change before Black Ops 6 open beta’s second weekend

This is what betas are made for.

The early access weekend of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s beta just winded down to a close for a two-day hiatus, and there’s plenty of player feedback for Treyarch to consider.

CoD players who pre-ordered BO6 or got access to the first weekend in other methods have been frantically playing since this past Friday, Aug. 30, and they’re not short on ideas of what the dev could do to improve the next game. But one suggestion stands well higher above the rest.

In a Treyarch Twitter/X post about the beta going offline before opening up to all players on Friday, Sept. 6, CoD gamers voiced their frustrations about a variety of things, but none were more prevalent than the performance of the Jackal PDW SMG.

“Nerf Jackal so we can see other guns in the killfeed,” one player said. And the sentiment rings true. The Jackal PDW is far and away the most popular gun in the beta, and for good reason, because it’s dominant.

With BO6’s omnimovement mechanic, the Jackal PDW has become king thanks to its immense firepower and high mobility, allowing players to use the new movement style to dive and slide around enemies with ease. The gun also performs probably a bit too well at range, too.

Another player said to “make sure to nerf the Jackal once it’s back,” while another asked for “updates on the Jackal nerf.” To summarize, basically all players agree the gun is overperforming and needs to be reined in a bit.

Other complaints that players have are common ones, such as issues with lag or packet burst, bad respawn point selection, and visibility of enemies at range on certain maps.

Treyarch may or may not deploy a patch alongside the open beta’s return on Friday, Sept. 6 at 12pm CT, so the nerf may not be here for then. But with this level of feedback, a nerf for the gun before the game’s Oct. 25 launch seems assured.

Update on Sept. 4 at 1:08pm CT: Treyarch has confirmed changes coming in the open beta’s second weekend, including “weapon balancing, spawn tuning, increased weapon XP earn rate, audio improvement,” and more.
