WWE Hall of Famer Booker T is suing Activision over a Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 character

Booker T claims Prophet is a copy of his comic book character.

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, whose real name is Booker T. Huffman, filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Activision Blizzard and Major League Gaming on Feb. 12 in Texas, legal documents show.

The lawsuit stems from Huffman’s claim that the Prophet character, a Specialist in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, is a copy of Huffman’s comic book character, “G. I. Bro,” who’s a special operations action hero modeled after Huffman, according to the documents. Huffman alleges that Activision stole his character, and that there’s no doubt that his copyright has been infringed upon.

Huffman claims Activision Blizzard, the holding company of Activision Publishing and MLG, are responsible for allowing the copyright infringement to occur. Huffman also alleges that the infringement has resulted in “hundreds of millions of dollars in sales of infringing copies of Booker T.’s G. I. Bro Works.”

Huffman, now retired from actively wrestling, won several world heavyweight championships and earned numerous other accolades in his more than 20-year career. After retiring, Huffman was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a part of the 2013 class.

Outside of wrestling, Huffman partnered with independent contractor Travis Huffman (no relation) to create a comic book, G. I. Bro and the Dragon of Death, in 2015. The comic, in addition to several artworks and a shorter version of the comic, are all owned by Huffman.
