FaZe Apex Team announcement for Y3 featuring Snip3down, Phonyhead, and Frexs

Was FaZe’s Apex roster change accidentally leaked by Battlefy for the ALGS Y4?

Is another roster drop on the way?

Battlefy’s official list of invited ALGS participants had some twists and turns no one was expecting. “Ex-FaZe” was spotted in the initial lineup, but was it a mistake or is something else going on behind the scenes?

Two NA teams in particular caught my eye at the time of updating Dot’s ALGS invite piece with Battlefy information on Oct. 23. These were the ‘ex-’ entries of NRG and FaZe. Since its update, FaZe reverted back to the team we all know of, but is it still with Snip3down, Phonyhead, and Frexs?

After doing a bit of investigative digging I found the Apex Team on the official FaZe Clan website has been blacked-out, while R6, Halo, FIFA, and other teams have their full team on show. As an already established team in Apex, Snip3down, Phonyhead, and Frexs would show here alongside other esports rosters.

Further investigation showed only Frexs and Phonyhead had their images uploaded to the site. Snip3down, Gent, and Deeds are blacked-out and NICKMERCS is nowhere to be seen.

The official Apex Team page for FaZe Clan suggests that Phony and Frexs are still with FaZe. Have I stumbled upon the shocking truth?

FaZe saw huge success with their newest Apex roster. With consistent pro league placements of 5th in Y3 split two playoffs and 6th in the Y3 ALGS championship. But the recent acquisition of FaZe from Complexity could fill the ALGS lobby with three links to FaZe Clan—being FaZe, Complexity, and Tripods. Surely this isn’t the case?

On an r/CompetitiveApex Reddit thread, a redditor claims that Battlefy “isn’t always accurate,” but with past leaks under their belt of Fire Beavers moving to Aurora, and the odd changes on FaZe’s website, it’s safe to assume that a FaZe roster change is on the horizon. Nothing has been confirmed yet and FaZe member Phonyhead has avoided answering any speculation on his roster. “I don’t know, don’t ask me questions,” he said.

A lot of teams on the pro league list included roster and org changes that people are already aware of, like former Team Stability to Already There and Disguised reverting back to DNO. Battlefy also includes teams that have moved or are staying in their region like Dark Zero and Moist Esports. So if FaZe’s listing is a mistake, how did something like this happen?

Even TSM Manager minustempo saw the change live and hinted at an accidental leak by Battlefy. With ex-Faze being changed back into FaZe, the question on minustempo’s lips is: “did they reveal that FaZe is breaking up or did they just make a mistake?”

While it is uncertain whether FaZe will have a massive roster change, the likelihood of Snip3down being dropped is incredibly low after having multiple rosters centered around his playstyle in Y3. But the fate of FaZe is uncertain, alongside the rosters for ex-NRG and 100 Thieves.
