The latest Apex Legends patch released on Tuesday addressed a Twitch Prime exploit that granted users access to the exclusive Twitch Prime rewards without having to pay for a Twitch Prime account.
Respawn Entertainment teamed up with Twitch Prime a week ago to bring five Apex packs and a Legendary Pathfinder skin to players with a Twitch Prime account. Users could unlock the loot by simply clicking on the crown icon on Twitch and following the steps to link their Twitch and Apex Legends accounts.

Following the promotion’s reveal, several users began discovering a new way to reap the benefits without having a Twitch Prime account. As one Reddit user posted, players could simply go into their advanced launch settings in Origin and type “+twitch_prime_linked 1” to receive the exclusive rewards upon starting the game.
To address this exploit, Respawn Entertainment pushed a patch Tuesday preventing players from using this method as a way to unlock the rewards without paying for a Twitch Prime account.
When the exploit first appeared, it was unclear whether those taking advantage of it would face any punishment, but the developer finally addressed the concerns with the latest patch. According to the game’s official Twitter, users without a Twitch Prime account will have their Omega Point Pathfinder skin removed from their Apex account.
Those with a Twitch Prime account can continue to unlock the rewards if they haven’t already done so up until the event ends on April 18.
