Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is off to an unprecedented start during its launch week.
After surpassing one million players in just eight hours, which is faster than Fortnite: Battle Royale reached that mark, Apex Legends hit over 10 million players in three days, according to a message from Respawn's Vince Zampella.
Zampella also revealed that Apex Legends already has one million concurrent players.
"This has been a truly incredible journey," Zampella said. "We tested and tweaked. We argued and agreed. We got to a point where we felt some magic. We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch. But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it too."
Reaching 10 million players in 72 hours is an impressive feat that shows how quickly the gaming community has taken to Apex Legends. And with a big tournament, the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge, already planned for next week, the hype surrounding this battle royale game could continue to grow.
"We hoped you’d love it as much as us, but never in our wildest dreams could we have expected the outpouring of support and positivity we’ve seen," Zampella said. "From all of us at Respawn, thank you for giving us and Apex Legends a chance. Thank you for joining us on this journey. This is just the beginning! We have so much more in store for you this year."
