A bug discovered on Reddit is granting players free wins in Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends, the new free-to-play battle royale that’s set in the Titanfall universe.
The bug, encountered by multiple members of the Apex subreddit, is stopping players from jumping off the ship at the beginning of the game, and preventing them from taking damage. After some time the circle reduces in size, before eventually killing every enemy squad— resulting in a free and easy win.
“I was on a squad that cleaned everything and checked every corner in the last two circles, and yet we didn’t find anyone,” said Reddit user Ochkoman. “After we died from the zone damage the game said that someone else had won.”
The creators behind Apex are well aware of the issue and are working to fix the problem. A member of the developing team replied to the Reddit poster, asking them to send more information via personal message. Respawn didn’t provide a specific date for when the bug would be fixed, but they did say it would be amended as soon as possible.
It’s still early days for the battle royale, and a few initial problems are to be expected. In comparison to similar games in the genre, like Fortnite and PUBG, Apex has been relatively stable, with very few reported bugs or issues.
The game surpassed 10 million downloads in just three days, and despite a few hiccups, it’s mostly seen a positive response from the community. It’s been branded by some as the “Fortnite killer.”
