Despite fielding some of the premier talent in European Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Dignitas has reportedly removed Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad and Asger “AcilioN” Larsen from the team.
The move comes roughly eight months after Dignitas acquired jkaem, who joined the roster with former FaZe Clan stalwart Ricardo “fox” Pacheco on March 23. AcilioN’s tenure with Dignitas, however, was far more brief, as the 21-year-old only spent two months on the roster.
As a result of the removal of the two players, the team has been playing alongside former Dignitas rifler Jorgen “cromen” Robertsen, as well as its coach Morten “zEVES” Vollan, according to HLTV.
The decline of Dignitas throughout 2017 was an unforeseen development, as the organization had enjoyed tremendous success with its Danish CS:GO roster. But after the five players made a unilateral move to North on Jan. 1, 2017, the organization has been unable to make any kind of strides in competing at the top of the CS:GO circuit.
This became most apparent on Oct. 14, when Dignitas were unable to advance through the open online qualifier for the ELEAGUE Boston Major—the very first stage of qualification.
Dignitas fell to Swedish mixteam Team5 in the round of 16, marking the second time in 2017 in which the roster was unable to secure their attendance at a Valve Major. The squad also missed out on qualifying for the PGL Kraków Major on July 7.
With these developments, Dignitas finds itself in an incredibly precarious situation heading into the 2018 competitive season.
