Play this week’s Tavern Brawl to get a free Kobolds and Catacombs card pack

With Hearthstone‘s next expansion now just a matter of weeks away, players are asking themselves a question—how many packs do I need to buy?

Well thanks to this week’s Tavern Brawl, it should be one less than you were planning.

This week’s Tavern Brawl, ‘Treasure in the Catacombs’, rewards a free Kobolds and Catacombs pack for your first win. The mode is free-to-play as always, and this week’s brawl uses pre-made decks—that means that you don’t need a massive collection either.

The brawl is fairly simple. You choose a class, and are queued up against a random opponent. Each player starts with an active quest—whenever seven minions are played between both players, both players will summon a Master Chest.

This is the same Master Chest summoned by Marin the Fox, the free card everyone got last week. If you are the one who triggers the quest, your chest will summon with four health instead of the normal eight. Once the chests are summoned, the quest starts again.

The brawl can be a little frustrating. The pre-made decks have little logic or thought put into them, like Book Wyrm in Rogue. But if you get enough luck and momentum on your side you can win pretty easily.

Obviously you can’t open the pack until the expansion goes live, so it’s just going to sit in your game until then.
