Best Kitty Pryde decks in Marvel Snap (September 2023)

Don't let walls hold you back.

In the Marvel universe, Kitty Pryde is a mutant and one of the members of the X-Men. She is known to have the ability to pass through solid objects, such as walls and gates. There is no doubt that the ability of her card counterpart in Marvel Snap is inspired by her mutant powers.

Here are the best Kitty Pryde decks in Marvel Snap.

Marvel Snap Kitty Pryde abilities, explained

Kitty Pryde is a one-cost, zero-Power card with the following ability: “When this returns to your hand, +1 Power. Returns at the start of each turn.” It may not be that game-changing when you first look at it. But given the right tools and deck build, Kitty Pryde can be a massive Power source in the game.

During Kitty Pryde’s first release in March, she was a series five card and had a price tag of 6,000 tokens. She caused some technical glitches in the game, though, eventually causing the players’ matches to unexpectedly crash. She was pulled off in the game, making her unusable for players who already got her. Instead, developer Second Dinner gave her as a free card during the May patch as a free series five card to all players.

Strategy and best combos for Kitty Pryde decks in Marvel Snap

Kitty Pryde can fit into almost any deck since her ability is more of a tech effect and can be used as a bonus Power source for a low cost. There are some cards, however, that greatly benefit from her ability to bounce back to her user’s hand.

Angela’s ability to gain plus two Power for each card played in the same location as her can be spammed with Kitty Pryde. The Collector, on the other hand, gains plus one Power every time a card enters his user’s hand (aside from drawing from the deck). The bounce effect of Kitty Pryde can be really helpful to stack Power to both cards.

Beast also synergizes well with Kitty Pryde since he can bounce cards and lower their cost by one at the same time. With this, Kitty Pryde can become a zero-cost card in the process, potentially making her a bonus offensive card in the late game.

Sera Control

One of the best decks where Kitty Pryde can be included is in a Sera Control deck. The synergy Kitty Pryde can provide in the deck can be devastating, especially in the late game. The power stack plus the cheap cost of the card is a top-notch addition to the deck, making it unpredictable for the opponent to read where the potential high-power Kitty Pryde would be placed.

Angela is the main card you can pair with Kitty Pryde. Spamming Kitty Pryde’s bounce ability can make room for Angela to have more units to be possibly played, potentially boosting her Power.

As for the other offensive engine cards in the deck, you can add cheap cost cards that can gain high Power if you are able to do their right setup. These are Hit-Monkey, which gains plus two Power for each card you played on the turn you placed it on a location, and Bishop, which gains plus one Power every time you play a card.

Playing Mysterio massively supports both Hit-Monkey and Bishop since the illusions it creates are considered as separate plays on all the locations. Sentinel, on the other hand, can give you another decent copy of itself, creating a two-cost, three-Power booster in the process. Scarlet Witch is there for location control. The combo of Nova and Killmonger can also be included in the deck for more Power boost and disruption to destroy the one-cost cards in the game.

Cap off the deck with the Sera control trinity of Sera, which reduces the cost of all the cards in your hand, Shang-Chi, which destroys all of your opponent’s cards with nine or more Power on the location where you played it, and Enchantress, which has an On Reveal ability that disables all the Ongoing effects on the location where it is placed.

Win condition cards for this deck:

Since this deck requires multiple cards to work and does not have a card that can single-handedly carry it as a whole, the win condition cards for this deck aside from Kitty Pryde are:

  • Hit-Monkey
  • Bishop
  • Mysterio

Angela, Hit-Monkey, Bishop, and The Collector will be your primary source of Power points aside from Kitty Pryde. Setting them up properly will drive the deck to have high Power on your locations, so Mysterio should be played at the right time to maximize both cards’ Power potential.

For the added cost reduction and disruptive effects that can help you bolster your locations, the cards that you would need are:

  • Sera
  • Shang-Chi
  • Enchantress

Sera is almost a must-play for this deck If you have any chance to play it, do it. As for the three disruptive cards, use them wisely depending on the situation of your opponent’s locations.

Aggro Toolbox Move

Another deck where Kitty Pryde can shine is in a Move deck but has a more aggressive and controlled approach. Unlike the Standard Move deck, which is all about moving cards to gain Power, this version of the move strategy involves the use of great tech cards that can deal with almost any situation, especially both as an offensive and defensive engine.

The primary offensive options for this deck are Angela and Kraven. Both can benefit from the movement that you can do from your other cards, giving both of them the Power stack that you can use as your main offensive weapons in the late game.

For your move enablers, you can put the likes of Jeff the Baby Landshark, Silk, Spider-Man, and Vision. Miles Morales is an added offensive card that can cost one if you move a card last turn. As for the control cards that you can use in this deck, you can include Shang-Chi, Legion for location control, and Captain Marvel as a potential game-winner and move card in the last turn.

Cap off the deck with America Chavez which is a six-cost, nine-Power card that you will always draw on turn six for more security and offensive options in the late game.

Win condition cards for this deck

The win condition cards for this deck are:

  • Angela
  • Kraven
  • Shang-Chi
  • Legion
  • Captain Marvel
  • America Chavez

Angela and Kraven serve as the main Power sources of the deck. So, it should always be your priority to stack Power on them as much as possible through playing and moving your cards around locations. You can also control their Power stack which can prevent them from being destroyed by Shang-Chi.

Shang-Chi’s destruction effect can be converted as offense for your side. Legion is a great location manipulator, especially if there is a tricky location that you can take advantage of which can surprise your opponent in the late game. Captain Marvel’s location-winning move is a big draw since you can secure a location most of the time, as well as potentially boost the Power of Kraven in the process.

America Chavez is always there as a final turn move in any case where you need to outpower your opponent instead of disrupting their setup.

Kitty Pryde deck staple cards

Here are the staple cards you should play in a Kitty Pryde deck along with their effects:

  • Angela – After you play a card here, +2 Power.
  • Hit-Monkey – On Reveal: Gain +2 Power for each other card you played this turn.
  • Bishop – After you play a card, this gains +1 Power.

How to counter Kitty Pryde decks

Kitty Pryde is safe from cards that can disrupt and prevent On Reveal and Ongoing effects from happening, specifically Cosmo and Enchantress.

A major threat to Kitty Pryde decks is Killmonger. It can destroy all one-cost cards in locations with ease. Also, lockdown decks may prevent the Kitty Pryde players from spamming its Power bonus since putting it in your hand means that it will be removed from a location. Cards like Professor X can do this.
