Overwatch has been named Esports Game of the Year by The Game Awards 2017.

The Blizzard first-person shooter beat out Rocket League, League of Legends, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to earn the title, which was announced live on Dec. 7 in Los Angeles.

Overwatch’s award and nomination was determined by an expert jury comprised of international media outlets, as well as fan vote. Though Overwatch is still a budding esport—Blizzard’s inaugural Overwatch League season has just begun—the community has already rallied behind it. The regular season is scheduled to begin Jan. 10.

Esports Game of the Year wasn’t the only award Overwatch brought home; Blizzard was also awarded Best Ongoing Game for Overwatch’s persistent success since its release over a year ago. Overwatch beat out Warframe, Rainbow Six: Siege, Grand Theft Auto Online, Destiny 2, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds to win the title.

It seems likely that Overwatch could be up for this award in the years to come, as Blizzard is showing no signs of stopping with its Overwatch updates. In fact, next week Blizzard is launching Overwatch’s second Winter Wonderland event to celebrate the winter holidays. The event is scheduled to kick off on Dec. 12.
