New hero reveals are always cause for excitement in the Overwatch 2 community—and Ramattra’s announcement was no different.
Revealed during the Overwatch League Grand Finals, Ramattra is the game’s newest playable character. The powerful Omnic’s tank kit involves switching between two forms known as Omnic form and Nemesis form, which the development team hopes will bring depth to his play.
While fans are excited for Ramattra, there’s also been concern in the community thanks to the way developer Blizzard Entertainment made players unlock Kiriko, the game’s first new hero on launch. While Ramattra’s unlock method will be the same as Kiriko’s, there’s an important difference that fans should be aware of.
Here’s how to unlock Ramattra in Overwatch 2.
Unlocking Ramattra
Ramattra is available now since season two launched on Dec. 6. As with Kiriko in season one, you’ll need to once again purchase the premium battle pass or level up the free battle pass to unlock Ramattra. Unlike Kiriko, Ramattra is unlocked at tier 45 of the free battle pass, 10 tiers earlier than his predecessor.
The Overwatch 2 development team revealed in a press Q&A that they are constantly discussing hero unlock methods and how to best organize them. This adjustment is likely based on community feedback from Kiriko’s launch, which many players believed required too much grinding.
The premium battle pass costs about $10 in season two. Purchasing the premium pass grants a new cosmetic on each tier, up to 80 tiers, and instantly grants access to Ramattra. If you’d rather stay on the free battle pass, you’ll need to grind up to tier 45 to earn Ramattra for free. Once season two ends, Ramattra will likely be unlockable via Catch Up Hero challenges or by purchasing him in the shop with Overwatch coins, the game’s premium currency.
Ramattra is live now alongside Overwatch 2’s second season.
