H2k stops Fnatic in their tracks with decisive quarterfinal win

Fnatic lost in decimating fashion today in the EU quarterfinals in one of their worst performances in LCS history. The best-of-five was decided in three straight games in what can only be described as an uninspired effort from the legendary organization, as H2K ran rampant over their opponents.

While the Riot broadcast decided to put the battle between the two teams’ botlanes under the microscope, breaking out a separate stream for the position, the most impressive players on H2K played in different positions across the map. Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski retained complete control over the jungle and teamfights throughout the three-game series, adding at least two more first bloods to his overall record for the season.

Even H2K’s toplaner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu delivered a carry level performance in the first game of the series, as he solo-killed Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek’s Gangplank at least three times. As if the performances from Jankos and Odoamne weren’t solid enough, the infamous Greek AD Carry Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou, who only died once in the entire series, consistently picked his opponents apart in the laning stage and teamfights.

This result is the worst in Fnatic’s history in the EU LCS. Up until last split, the organization reached every final in the league’s history. The loss also comes just a week after the team’s famed head coach elected to leave the squad after a period of lackluster results.

The outcome of this series now also means that spring split winners G2 Esports are the first team from Europe to represent the region at the League World Championship this September.
