SK Gaming looks to get back into Heroes with Team Blank

Legendary esports franchise SK Gaming are returning to Heroes of the Storm, and this time a North American team will be playing under the banner—at least for now.

Team Blank, one of the top unaffiliated teams in North America, will represent SK Gaming at this weekend’s Heroes Rising LAN event.

News of the signing was initially published by Heroes Rising organisers Esports Arena, though players on the team were keen to clarify that the deal was not official yet and the team would simply be “representing” SK Gaming at the event.

SK Gaming CEO Alex Müller told the Daily Dot that while the move was not permanent at this stage, they were interested in picking up the team permanently.

“Araragi has been with SK for a very long time and we always kept the relationship active,” Müller said in an email to the Daily Dot. “So when he asked us if we could support his new team for this event already, regardless of contracts being signed, we said yes due to the good vibe between us.

“Yes, we are interested in this team, but for now, we support them for this event and they are excited to hold the SK banner up.”

The new SK Gaming side features former players from a variety of other top teams, including Seth “Araragi” Fitzpatrick of the previous SK Gaming side. Also joining are former COGnitive Gaming player Austin “Shot” Lonsert and Long “Daihuu” Wang, Taylor “GamesChess” Barden and Dan “DanLeeFor3” Lee.

SK Gaming’s previous venture into Heroes of the Storm ended somewhat abruptly, with the team disbanding last June after just four months. Three of the players from that roster—James “Bakery” Baker, Joshua “Snitch” Bennett and Matic “Zarmony” Mikec—went on to finish second in the Heroes World Championship as part of the Team Dignitas roster.
