Doomfist buff coming to Overwatch’s test server

Doomfist's big fist will feel more consistent.

Blizzard continues to tweak its Overwatch heroes, this time hitting Doomfist with a slight buff.

A Doomfist buff will make its way to the Overwatch public test server “soon,” Overwatch principal designer Geoff Goodman said on the game’s forum. The changes are slight, but will make Doomfist’s primary fire feel more consistent. “We’ve increased the number of bullets that he fires, but lowered their individual damage,” Goodman said. “The net result is the same damage over time, but there shouldn’t be as much variance from shot to the next.”

His spread pattern has also been changed to help with consistency, too.

Doomfist has been in a weird place since his initial release on July 27, 2017. He entered Overwatch feeling very strong—almost too strong. His movement abilities have since been nerfed, which made him much less useful. He’s also had a ton of bugs, but Overwatch developers have continued to work on those.

“There is at least one more change we’re testing that won’t hit until a little later, which you guys [will] see once we get closer to the next PTR, as Jeff [Kaplan] noted,” Goodman said.

Kaplan mentioned in a late January forum post that Doomfist was one of the next heroes with a slight adjustment on the way. He noted then that Doomfist isn’t in a terrible place, but he’s just not as powerful or useful as he once was.

“We’ve been talking about [Sombra],” Kaplan wrote on the Overwatch forum. “We’re trying out some minor changes on Doomfist too.”

Neither Kaplan nor Goodman said exactly when the PTR changes will come online.
