Epic Games has pulled back the curtain on what to expect from the upcoming Fortnite Fall Skirmish event, featuring six weeks of events and $10 million in prize money.
The first event begins next weekend and will continue until the end of October when the final event will take place at TwitchCon from Oct. 26 to 28 in San Jose, California.
The Fall Skirmish will have one big difference from the Summer Skirmish—it will also include “entertainment” play formats as well as competitive formats, changing up the formula and offering different kinds of events for players to participate in and for fans to spectate.
” The new approach for Fall Skirmish will include both Competitive and Entertainment play formats,” Epic said. “We’re looking to incorporate some of these new formats into our large-scale events in 2019. During Fall Skirmish, players will proudly represent themed teams and earn points based on their performances in both play formats. Each week will pose new challenges like white-knuckle ATK races, masterful golf outings, mini-games, and of course high skill competition every weekend.”
Epic also said that 500 Fortnite community members earned cash prizes during Summer Skirmish, and that it expects that number to grow in the new event. More information will be revealed in a blog next week, including week one format and team announcements.Â
The developer also teased more of the future of competitive Fortnite with something called Showdown Royale in the beginning of October. The new feature “gives an in-game tournament system where our entire community will have an opportunity to compete and earn prizes in future competitive events.”
