On May 10, EA Sports announced that its cooperation with FIFA regarding the FIFA franchise will end after nearly 30 years. FIFA 23, which is scheduled to release this Fall, is set to be the latest game made by both parties. From late 2023, the productions will be going under a new name: EA SPORTS FC.
The first games from the FIFA series date back to 1994 when FIFA International Soccer was released. From that year and onwards, a new FIFA title was launched, with each of them adding new features, leagues, gameplay mechanics, and more.
With such rich history and so many entries in the past, fans of the popular series have been wondering what exactly the future is going to look like, and how much the new EA SPORTS FC will differ from the franchise that ends next year.
And while not have details have been revealed so far, the developers promised in their announcement that all the usual elements will remain in the game.
First, most of the license partners with whom EA Sports have been working will stay in the franchise. In the statement, the company underlined that more than 300 license partners across the sport, as well as over 19,000 players, 700 teams, 100 stadiums, and 30 leagues, will continue working with EA Sports. These include soccer clubs, as well as leagues like Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, and more.
The creators also ensured fans of the series that modes like Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and VOLTA Football “will all be there.”
