Modern Warfare 2 is nearly here.
In June, Activision finally revealed that Modern Warfare II will be released on Oct. 28. New trailers showed the return of a few iconic characters like Captain Price, Gaz, Soap, and a bunch of new characters as well.
MW2 will feature the sprawling campaign alongside multiplayer, Spec Ops co-op, and the launch of Warzone 2.0 a few weeks later on Nov. 16. Activision is going all-out with MW2, saying that it heralds in a new era of CoD, and it all begins soon.
Modern Warfare II will continue the revamped Modern Warfare story introduced in 2019. Details about just what’s going on in the campaign are scant, but the Task Force 141 gang is headed on a globe-trotting mission to save the world again, and it looks like they’re willing to blur the lines between good and bad to get the job done.
Early access to the campaign begins on Oct. 20, but players can begin pre-loading it on Oct. 19 at 12pm CT. Pre-loads for the full game, including multiplayer and more, come at a later date, but can also be done to ensure maximum grind time.
The original Modern Warfare 2 holds a special place in the hearts of CoD veterans. Modern Warfare 2019 had an excellent campaign with intense moments, and the sequel will likely have players on the edge of their seats.
Activision revealed a ton of information about MW2 on Oct. 18, including exactly when players could log on and start ranking up. The game is available to play at 11pm CT on Oct. 27, or midnight on Oct. 28 on the East Coast.
