Gliders in Fortnite: Battle Royale are getting some tweaks in the next game update, v6.20.

Epic Games announced today that gliders can soon be deployed mid-game when a player is at least three stories high. The mechanic was originally implemented in the Soaring 50’s Limited Time Mode, but now the developer is curious to see if it’s something that should become a staple of the game.

“We’re testing how providing a singular mobility mechanic that all player can use will affect regular gameplay,” Epic Games said in a blog on its website. “We’re planning to run this for a week. Drop in, try it out, [and] let us know what you think!”

This change means that you won’t need to use a rift or hop into the floating island wind vortex to get your glider to deploy. All you need is a few staircases worth of materials and a good elevated surface to get from one place to another with ease.

The re-deploying glider mechanic will be available for player testing in Solo, Duo, and Squad matches later this week.
