Siegfried, who has been in every Soulcalibur game since the original Soulcalibur for the SEGA Dreamcast, is one of the central characters in the series. He, Nightmare, Mitsurugi, and Cervantes are the only characters that have appeared in every game of the series.

In the game’s lore, after transforming back from Nightmare, Siegfried awoke in an unfamiliar place and is unable to free himself from the memories of what he did while he was cursed. The memory of killing his family still haunts him, so he is constantly looking for a way to redeem himself in Soulcalibur VI.

In previous games, Siegfried possessed high levels of strength and sword fighting skills by wielding the massive blade Zweihanders. Fans have been given a small teaser of what Siegfried’s moves will be like in his trailer, but Bandai has not yet published his full moveset.

Siegfriend’s announcement brings the total number of playable characters to 10. The news follows the reveal of the game’s first guest character at the start of March, when Geralt of the Witcher series was officially unveiled.

Soulcalibur VI will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC sometime in 2018. Bandai Namco has still not yet given fans a release date for the game but fighting game fans are hopeful we will hear more from the title at this Summer’s E3.
