These are the worst legendaries in Standard Hearthstone

Not all Legendary cards wield immense power.

In every Hearthstone metagame, there are Legendary cards that can only be described with “yikes,” the unplayable oddballs who make you wince whenever you open them in a pack. The metagame of Murder in Castle Nathria revolved heavily around a single neutral package, making distinct strategies difficult to pull off—and the worst of them completely unplayable.

It should be of no surprise that the Legendary cards supporting these dead archetypes are among the worst ones right now in Standard, at least according to HSReplay’s data. Don’t craft them but also don’t cry should you open them in a pack: who knows what the next rotation brings.

Elise Starseeker

Oh, Elise. The return of the original League of Explorers has shown just how much time has passed in Hearthstone since their original release and how the game’s power levels continued to rise over time. Though Brann, Finley, and Reno do have some roles to play, Elise is just worthless. First, a four-mana 3/5 body, which is practically worthless these days. Then you draw the map, pay two mana for the privilege, then you have to eventually draw The Golden Monkey and get your random Legendaries. There are so many easier and more powerful ways to generate resources now that Elise herself is just a relic of the past.

Though the design is great and flavorful, a random Ysera card (even in their adjusted iterations) just doesn’t really cut it for the mana investment. By the time the minion wakes up, the 3/3 body is negligible. And really, will those two Laughing Sisters win you the game?

Ozumat

Colossal minions brought new interesting gameplay wrinkles in Voyage to the Sunken City, but the mini-set’s offerings turned out to be pretty poor. Ozumat is just too expensive to make it worth your while: too late against aggro decks, useless against control decks, and honestly not even that impactful in control mirrors either, Ozumat belongs to the deepest, darkest depths of your card collection rather than your deck.

So many players expected this card to be broken when it was revealed, but it turned out to be quite the dud instead. Nowadays, the two-mana premium on a Chillwind Yeti body is a huge deal, and the various initiative cards mean that this basically never sticks. It’s not a reliable draw engine, so it basically replaces itself without impacting the board. It goes to show that not every OP-looking card is actually premium.

Lady Prestor

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. Prestor went from great to unplayable as the single Druid deck that could make use of her unique abilities fell out of favor. It just goes to show how quickly the tides can turn and how a card can fall from grace in an instant.
