Denial drops Fugly, adds him back a day later

Still less than a day removed from making a big change to their roster, Denial have decided to reverse course.

Denial’s Counter-Strike has been in flux ever since they appeared to have ascended to the game’s top level in America—and that’s the case today more than ever. Yesterday the team announced the release of Jacob “Fugly” Medina to make room for Nick “Nitro” Cannella. Today, Denial are bringing Medina back.

But his return won’t lead to Cannella’s departure.

Instead, Todd “Anger” Williams will leave.

Williams took to Twitter to announce the decision. He seemed to bear no ill will against the team, even citing his own poor performance at the ESEA global final event as reasoning for the move.

But the timing of the decision doesn’t quite make sense if this is the case. Denial have made multiple roster changes since the ESEA tournament, with Williams never seeming in danger.

It wasn’t until last night, when Denial lost in a shocking upset to Lunatik Esports two-games-to-one in the MLG qualifying tournament, that the decision was made.

Medina was understandably confused, and took his feelings to Twitter just as Williams had before him.

So apparently @DenialEsports wants me on the roster again after this whole situation today. I just…what. What do you guys think?

Denial still have time to qualify for MLG’s Counter-Strike tournament at X Games in Aspen, Colorado. A second qualifier will be held after the first is played to completion. The team may make the move now with an eye on that second attempt.

It also brings the core of the Denial team closer to the forefront, after the squad seemed to have been moving away from that group with the additions of Williams and Eric “Adren” Hoag.

Further changes are not expected, but at this point would be a surprise to no one.
