After months of playing runners-up to their European comrades, Team Dignitas‘s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team is making a high-profile change to their Danish roster.
Sources close to the team confirmed this morning that Henrik “Fetish” Christensen is no longer a part of the squad that’s earned a reputation for consistently finishing just below expectations. Christensen was the in-game leader and AWP carrier for Dignitas during a campaign that’s seen no championships since June of this year.
Finn “Karrigan” Andersen, formerly of Mousesports, will replace Christensen. The former Counter-Strike 1.6 player will likely fill Christensen’s shoes as leader and AWPer when he dons the black and gold.
While Andersen represents new blood for a team in need of it, Christensen’s shoes will be difficult to fill. The Dane played captain and tactician during his time at the top, winning a major tournament every year in Source from 2005 onward.
With Global Offensive viewership ballooning rapidly, the dramatic change offers Dignitas an opportunity to grab a piece of an ever-growing pie. Whether this allows the team to surpass their European rivals, however, remains to be seen.
