A Danish Counter-Strike team has joined an esports organization heading into a major qualifier, and they’ve dropped a rather questionable name in the process.
As “Se Mi Puta,” (roughly: “you’re my bitch”) a Danish team starring Sune “crZy” Hansen and Morten “Colon” Johansen, played in the final pre-qualifier for the first major Counter-Strike tournament of the new year at ESL One Katowice.
The tournament was a great success for the team, who beat FM Esports, Property and Wizards on the way to victory and a spot at the main qualifying event, which will be held in Katowice this weekend.
But rather than maintaining the “Puta” name, the Danes quickly transitioned to “Temporary.” And today they found a new home.
The squad will be playing under the ESC Gaming banner. ESC had most recently represented a Polish team who were embroiled in the recent match-fixing controversy along with fellow Polish side Alsen.
Some of the players will be making a return to ESC Gaming, where they previously played in 2014. Hansen referenced that familiarity as a draw for the squad in the team’s official statement on the move.
“Tonight is the night we return to our home, we are back and we are very happy to be here,” Hansed said. “It is no secret that this is the organization I wanted us to represent from the very beginning I formed this team, and now when the reality is happening, I couldn’t be happier.”
In addition to ESC Gaming, the ESL qualifier will also feature such teams as Cloud9, Titan, Counter Logic Gaming and Mousesports. Play in the qualifier begins Saturday.
