Less than a year after the franchise was first announced, Blizzard’s newest franchise Overwatch is finally out—at least in close beta.
Despite the limited access, the game has immediately shot to the top of Twitch with over 130,000 viewers watching—most of them with their noses firmly pressed against the glass.
So far, the fast paced, first-person shooter action seems to have the gaming community abuzz. The beta was originally only scheduled for North American release today, but last Friday Blizzard announced that some EU players would also receive access today.Â
Meanwhile, professional gaming organizations are already making bets on Overwatch. Tempo Storm recently reached out to two of the best Team Fortress 2 teams to see if they’d be interested (Team Fortress is probably the closest competitive title to Overwatch), while K1ck Esports Club and PkD have signed teams outright.
If your account hasn’t already been granted access fear not: further rounds of invites may come in the future.
