Swedish team featuring Maikelele appears to be disbanding

After less than a month together, an unsigned Swedish team containing some of the country’s strongest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players appears to be disbanding.

Known as qwerty, the team was started by former Ninjas in Pyjamas and FaZe Clan AWPer Mikail “Maikelele” Bill in December. Competing alongside Maikelele were, among others, former Fnatic player John “wenton” Eriksson, Counter Logic Gaming’s long-standing coach Faruk “pita” Pita, and Simon “atter” Atterstam, who announced the dissolution of the team earlier today via Twitter.

Despite fielding several talented Swedish prospects, qwerty were unable to make an impact at DreamHack Leipzig on Jan. 13-15, the only LAN event the team would attend. Qwerty exited the event in last place after losing to Heroic, and were finally eliminated by Fnatic Academy in the deciding map of the group stage. The team also fell short in the first qualifier for the upcoming IEM World Championship in Katowice, where they were eliminated in 17th-32nd place, after only playing one map in total.

Maikelele doesn’t seem to be sitting idly by, however, as the AWPer was seen competing in an online match yesterday with former FaZe rifler Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad. Soon we could be seeing the Swedish AWPer on yet another international CS:GO roster—Maikelele’s first such team in nearly one year, after departing from FaZe in April 2016.
