The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive world championship is heading to Kraków, Poland.
Romanian tournament organizer PGL has revealed that it will be hosting the second CS:GO major of the year. This will be the first CS:GO Major PGL has hosted after hosting the majority of the Valve Majors in Dota 2.
The event venue is the 15,000 seat Tauron Arena, which has played host to world-famous musicians such as Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, and the Foo Fighters. The Kraków Valve Major also marks the first Major in Poland in roughly two years, following ESL One Katowice in March 2015. Additionally, it will be the first CS:GO Major to take place in Poland that isn’t hosted by ESL.
With the main event scheduled from July 16 to 23, the PGL Major will feature four regional qualifiers in the North American, European, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), and Asian regions. Eight teams in total will then advance from a final offline qualifier, taking place between June 29 to July 2.
The dates of the PGL Kraków Major seem to follow a similar schedule to 2016, which was the first year since the implementation of the Valve Major system that only featured two events. It’s not certain this will be the case for 2017, however.
PGL has in the past been celebrated for its innovative event production, meaning the company will more than likely have something special lined up for its very first CS:GO Major.
