Crypto has never enjoyed a particularly high pick rate among Apex Legends players. Many blame his slow and plodding playstyle that rewards caution and surveillance rather than all-out assault and brute force. Even with a few tweaks and reworks under his belt, he still struggles to perform against more obviously assault-based legends like Bloodhound.
Even so, that doesn’t mean you should ignore the Apex Games’ surveillance expert. What he lacks in pulse-pounding gameplay, he more than makes up for in stylish skins. Because he’s been in the game for so long—since season three—he’s had more than enough time to amass a large number of unique skins, many of which are no longer available.
Here are the rarest Crypto skins in Apex.
Deadly Byte
It’s no secret what the inspiration for this skin was. Deadly Bite puts its own spin on the classic vampire look, dressing Crypto in traditional clothing with some added flair. This skin was first available during season three’s Fight or Fright collection event and hasn’t made many comebacks since then. Its black and red color scheme is a popular choice among the community, and it is used extremely well in this skin.
Hack Frost
Another pop culture-inspired skin, Hack Frost is the most drastic change to Crypto’s look of any of his skins. The blue skin, sparkling gold, and silver clothing may not be the best choice to remain hidden in your environment, but who wouldn’t want to be seen in a skin like this? This skin was first available during season three’s Holo-Day Bash, the very first winter event to come to Apex. As such, it’s become quite rare since its initial appearance.
Whitelisted
This legendary skin makes Crypto look a little more like Revenant and Ash, the Apex Games’ simulacrum combatants. It was available for purchase during season four’s System Override event. The only way to get this skin while the event was active was to either purchase it outright or get lucky and grab it from a themed Apex pack, so not too many people came out of System Override sporting this skin.
Cyber Attack
While Cyber Attack is only a rare-tier skin, it’s one of the hardest to find in the entire game. It was given as a gift to Prime Gaming subscribers in December 2019, making it one of the earlier Prime Gaming gifts. To receive it, you had to have an active Prime Gaming subscription in that month and manually activate the reward for your account. You won’t see too many Cryptos rocking this one.
Arctic Plates
Similar to Cyber Attack, this is a skin you won’t see very often. Arctic Plates is a winter-themed skin that was given to PlayStation Plus subscribers during season five, which has long since passed. Because the number of Apex-playing PS Plus subscribers is less than the entire population of players, chances are low that you’ll come across it on the battlefield, especially if you aren’t playing on PlayStation.
