Activision’sCall of Duty® franchise has officially partnered with Sony Entertainment’sPlayStation® 4 to be the primary console for this year and surely more to come, starting with Treyarch’sCall of Duty®: Black Ops III. This deal will bring PlayStation users downloadable content before any other platforms.

During Sony’s press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015, PlayStation CEO Andrew House revealed that his company’s console would be the new home for Call of Duty, replacing Microsoft’s three-year run. House declared that this deal would allow PlayStation users to receive the Black Ops III multiplayer beta and downloadable map packs before anyone else. It was also stated that this deal would extend past Black Ops III. The stage was handed over to Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia, who revealed Black Ops III’s first-ever multiplayer gameplay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpm1yk3enzY Black Ops III launches to current-gen consoles on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. The game will also be released on last-gen consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The multiplayer beta will launch exclusively for Playstation users in August, and other platforms closer to release date. Note: this does not confirm whether or not Call of Duty eSports will be changing consoles, that will be revealed at a later date.
